IMBA Members and Clubs Revving Up For Sea Otter Classic

Spring is closer than you think, and in the Pacific region that means the Sea Otter Classic awaits. IMBA is proud to partner with Sea Otter again in 2010 and expects members from more than 50 IMBA-affiliated mountain bike clubs to attend the event. We will host the annual Mountain Bike Advocacy Summit on Friday, April 16, at Laguna Seca, to address trail access issues and encourage those new to bike advocacy to become more involved. Join us for a fun rally in support of new trails.

National Bike Summit and IMBA World Summit on Tap in 2010

Please join us for two powerful gatherings this year!

National Bike Summit (March 9-11): Brought to you by The League of American Bicyclists and sponsored by IMBA, the National Bike Summit is the premier bicycle advocacy event in our nation's capital. It brings cyclists from all over the country together to influence lawmakers and share strategies. IMBA's involvement will ensure that mountain and road cyclists are working together to lobby as a unified front. Registration is underway -- hurry, as early-bird pricing ends soon.

IMBA World Summit (May 5-8): We expect the 2010 IMBA World Summit to be our largest international gathering yet. In addition to informative seminars and great networking opportunities, the IMBA World Summit will feature big parties and plenty of riding -- including a tour of the Forks Area Trail System (FATS), an IMBA Epic. Registration opens Feb. 1.

IMBA Gains Important Change in House 'Dear Colleague' Letter, Now Offers Support

Late last week, IMBA prepared an Action Alert urging our supporters to oppose a "Dear Colleague" letter that is currently circulating in the House of Representatives. Authored by Congressman Raul Grijalva (D - AZ), Chairman of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, the letter is generating increased Congressional attention on protecting national forest lands that have been recommended for Wilderness designations. Working closely with Chairman Grijalva's staff in recent days, IMBA gained a clarification of the language, which would have previously banned bicycles from these areas. We now support the letter, as Chairman Grijalva has pledged his support for existing mountain biking opportunities in Recommended Wilderness. Add your voice and let your Representative know that you support protecting Recommended Wilderness, but that these areas do not need to be protected from bicycles.

VIDEO: 'Women of Dirt' Features IMBA Office Manager Tammy Donahugh

The official trailer for Women of Dirt is available online. Inspiring stuff, especially because it features IMBA's office manager Tammy Donahugh -- check out a clip devoted to her and the radness in her backyard (includes bonus footage of the IMBA foosball table!).
