Remember, donations to IMBA are generally tax deductible. Contributors who donate $35 or more will receive a free 2008 IMBA Calendar.

Share the Trail Website Seeks to Unite Trail Users
Bicycle Trails Council of Marin and Access4Bikes have launched a campaign to promote programs that encourage mountain bikers, equestrians and hikers to Share the Trail. With the increasing popularity of mountain biking, it is necessary to remind Marin County residents and visitors that it is imperative for all of us to be responsible trail users.

National Park Service Features Idaho Trail in Conservation Newsletter
In a December eNewsletter the National Park Service featured a story about Idaho's Shafer Butte shared-use trail system. A new 30-mile segment was developed through a partnership between Bogus Basin Ski Resort, Boise National Forest, Ridge to Rivers Partnership, and the IMBA-affiliated Southwest Idaho Mountain Bike Association.

Attend the U.S. National Bike Summit March 4-6
IMBA is proud to be a leading sponsor of the 2008 National Bike Summit, hosted by the League of American Bicyclists. We hope you'll join us March 4-6 in Washington, D.C. as we gather with hundreds of passionate cyclists to walk the halls of Congress and show the power of our numbers. The summit offers multiple sessions covering the most important cycling issues, including those bearing on mountain biking in California.

Downhill Trail Opens in Colorado with BLM's Blessing
The nectar in Grand Junction just got a little sweeter with the opening of "Free Lunch," an expert downhill trail just a couple miles from downtown in the Lunch Loop trail system. It is the first purpose-built, downhill-only, mountain bike-only trail built on public lands managed by the BLM. The goods were delivered thanks to a multi-year effort by the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association (COPMOBA) along with the BLM Grand Junction Field Office, IMBA, Bicycle Colorado and diehard volunteers. Check out the official press release at the BLM website and read the nitty gritty at COPMOBA's site.

Conservation Efforts Advance in Congress
Congress is proposing new legislation that would increase protection of our national forests and bring much needed reform to mining activities on our public lands. These conservation efforts are being advanced by work of a coalition of human-powered outdoor-recreation organizations -- including founding member IMBA -- called the Outdoor Alliance.
